The results of a recent study from Louisiana State University shows that eating tree nuts such as cashews, walnuts and pistachios can lead to a slimmer figure and lower body mass overall.

The survey assessed data from more than 13,000 people who claimed to eat at least a quarter ounce of nuts daily. According to the results, the study participants were shown to be five percent less likely to suffer from metabolic syndrome, which signifies a group of risk factors such as high blood pressure and high glucose levels that may lead to type II diabetes and other heart conditions.

The study specifically points to the health benefits of tree nuts, as opposed to other types of nuts. Participants were also found to have a mean weight that was 4.19 pounds less than their non-nut eating peers, on average.
